Our Process

Ganau’s vertically-integrated process allows for complete control over each step of production. From maintaining cork forests to deep cleaning processes, Ganau has been leading the way in the production of technical corks for decades.

Granules

All granules are produced from superior raw material. Cork granules are selected by weight and size to remove impurities. Heavy granules and woody particles are eliminated and used for our own production of insulation panels.

Uniq corks microgranules ganau

Cork granules are extensively cleaned with a steam stripping process that efficiently removes TCA and other volatile compounds. Based on the principle of thermal desorption and without the use of any chemical solvent, Ganau has invested in this unique technology since 2010. Each cleaning cycle is then tested for TCA before proceeding to the next stage of molding.

Individual Molding

All of Ganau’s technical corks are individually molded instead of extruded to produce consistent densities while requiring minimal glue. The homogeneous weight allows for even insertion during the bottling process and consistent extractions upon opening. Ganau has an extensive experience with this superior method since it has been used for the production of sparkling wine corks for decades.
